E46 Bottom Forward mount turbo manifold
Designed for track dedicated cars, this manifold puts the turbo up front rather than at the rear of the engine for a few reasons. This allows using long radius bend for the downpipe rather than a tight radius on most traditional bottom mount manifolds, and could even run up to a 4” diameter downpipe if desired. This style manifold may make it difficult to maintain a front radiator, but can be possible with the right turbo/intake combo. This setup was originally built and tested during drift week and made the 7000+ mile trip and 8 days of drifting with no issues or failures to the manifold.
Manifold Design
sch10 304 stainless pipe
1/2” thick stainless T4 open scroll flange with threaded m10x1.5 holes
CNC machined and ported head flange
Collectors and runners at head flange welded on inside
Fully back purged and tig welded
Flanges resurfaced after welding
